Chris Turette - Murals, Trompe L'Oeil, Faux Finishes & Renaissance Masters. Chris Turette - Murals

"I've been given some great opportunities to paint some remarkable murals in some spectacular houses and work for some inspiring people along the way.

It started differently - drawing on the pavements for change to get through college. But one minute on Bold St Liverpool chalking a Madonna outside Marks and Spenser's and then getting on planes to work for The Sultan of Qatar, The Boot's (Chemist) family, or in the house of the old Marquis of Queensbury, amongst the ghosts of Bosie and Wilde. Up scaffolds impossibly high, barely tethered to the earth.

I've either been crouched over drawing on pavements or looking skyward painting murals on ceilings!.

It was the long hours on the pavements that trained me for the demands of mural painting - the sheer perseverance, the attention to detail, the scale. The hard work. the traditional approaches to drawing and painting.

So having been around the world I find myself in Cornwall. Amongst its beauty and own traditions.

The murals speak for themselves. High quality trompe l'oeil and renaissance pastiches, infused with style and tradition. Immaculately planned and executed.

That's all to them."

Small Studies/ Paintings

These small paintings are...........Delightful.

From wanderings and still afternoons in the studio. Interested in light, surface and pattern.

They establish a relationship with Carn Brea, the granite mount on which I live and paint. And the solitary time on grey afternoons in the studio.

The brush work is a lot freer, more searching, and the subject matter very simple. Something refreshing after the pomp and grandeur of the murals.

These are beautiful, and affordable paintings.
