Dad had a book when we were growing up, from his childhood – “The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe” it had these black and white engaged plates, a 1940′s comic, line drawn little boxes for the drawings. He had meticulously coloured them in pencil crayon. I loved that. I found a copy of Dante’s Inferno illustrated by Dore. Redruth looking grim in the rain. Got it back to the studio and started drawing/painting in it. It just reminded me of that book of Dads. Mindful doodles, parallel narratives.
